Covered that in my Florida blog. I liked it for Florida more than I did for Boston.

Still can't believe we traded Dougie f***ing Hamilton!

Was Hedman "clearly" a stud on his third season with you guys.........?

I seem to remember it was his FOURTH year that all this talk about the next "elite" perennial Norris Trophy guy talk started.

Still, going over there numbers Hamilton had better numbers ALL three of his first three seasons........eye test is different, I get it.

The Hamilton deal was a complete abortion and Sweeney's sour grapes with the new oilers GM and his former boss seemed to have affected his judgment, I'm sure the oil would have made a better offer if Bruins were willing to move away from demanding Nurse. The rest of the Bruins moves seemed pretty solid and will inject some quality youth into their roster however the Hamilton deal really puts a damper on the whole off season and will be hard to recover from in the short term. They are a battle worn team presumably on the decline so a partial rebuild isn't a terrible idea it's just concerning they couldn't better accomidate a top young player like Hamilton as we have seen the Bruins miss handle top assets too many times in recent memory.

The competition in the Atlantic will be who will Suck the most. It's gonna be a 3 way battle between the leafs, sabres and bruins.

Thing is besides the Hamilton trade Sweeney has done incredibly well. A team that couldn't afford Toilet paper to wipe its arse now has $5M in cap space and some additions. Chiarelli left them in an awful mess with NMC's on sub par players and overly huge contracts. No east feat.

Saying that, the DH deal was awful. I agree they had to move him, BUT, the return was just a large steamy pile of poo.

Hard to judge the draft picks, have to see how that plays out...

Lucic deal was amazing return

Amazing contract money on Connolly & Spooner (Bruins fans aren't used to getting bargain contracts with Chiarelli at the helm). Hayes contract was reasonable as well.

Beleksey signing was great AAV for a guy that was at a peak to get PAID

Irwin was a nice cheap value signing

Paid too much for McQuaid with too much term

Overall he overhauled this roster and gave cap flexibility and a brighter future. Besides losing Hamilton this team is in a better place that they were with the mess that Chiarelli left them in, I believe.

If the dougie Hamilton trade gets a D, then the Rinaldo trade gets an F- a million times over. This season will be brutal for the bruins.

I thought McQuaid re-signing and Rinaldo trade were pretty terrible decisions. Not as bad as Hamilton though.

Would have been nice to at least get a D man for their current roster. As it stands we went from being OK on D to sucking the D on D

Hamilton wanted out. The trade return does nothing to help the Bruins in the now. Zboril should be good, DeBrusk has potential and Senyshyn is supposedly a hidden gem identified by both Sweeney and Chiarelli among a few other GMs. So in the long run the trade may not be bad or as bad as it seems now. But don't let me stop the idiotic hyperbole.

The only sour grapes here is that Calgary got Hamilton and you didn't. (frank)ing deal with it.

I wouldn't lump the Sabres in with them necessarily

Not sure about this one. Oh well. Hows Bergevin's offseason going? Looks like you guys got the scoring you needed...oh wait. You didn't. I'm sure Price will carry your pathetic offense enough to gas out in the playoffs again. Solid Hockey Ops right there.

It's probably true. Even if it is Austin to Boston the Bruins will trade him in 3 years and call him an uppity kid.
